Keeping track of all the steps needed to pass an important law — like Washington’s stellar 2019 100% clean energy bill or orca recovery legislation — is (literally) a full-time job. But these laws wouldn’t be a reality without Washingtonians voicing their support, ideas, and concerns.
Let us do some of the legwork for you! Each week while Washington state’s lawmakers convene from January 11th through spring for the 2021 legislative session, we will connect you with opportunities to use the power of your voice to pass key measures to protect waterways, support renewable energy, and equitably recover from the COVID pandemic.
Our weekly email or text updates will include how and when to write your elected officials, chances to meet with them (virtually or in Olympia), and everything in between. Take the Legislative Action pledge and make the most of our best opportunity in 2020 to leverage the power of pro-environment representatives. Together, we can urge them to pass critical bills for salmon recovery, orca health, climate change, environmental justice, and more.
It’s easy to think that if we elect the right leaders, they will fix everything. It’s equally tempting to let cynicism take over, thinking they cannot fix anything, and that communities have to do it all on their own. But the truth is smack in the middle—and we are what make the difference. That’s why your community need your help to make sure the Washington state legislature hears from the people they represent.
