February monthly beach cleanup at I&J Waterway

February 14, 2022 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Our February cleanup theme is ❤️ Your Oceans!

To combat plastic pollution in the Salish Sea, RE Sources hosts beach cleanups — as well as cleanups along rivers and lakes — throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, providing cleanup equipment and a place to connect with like-minded community members.

Join us on Valentine’s Day, February 14th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the parking lot near 1000 Hilton Ave (I & J Waterway, Bellingham. Map here.). Bagels will be provided be The Bagelry! We provide cleanup supplies, just dress for the weather.

Plastic pollution is a concern for water quality and wildlife everywhere, and has even been discovered in drinking water and table salt worldwide. Recent research found that Pacific Ocean juvenile fish have been consuming microplastic particles in their first days of life, with not-yet understood health consequences.

Here is a list of all our scheduled cleanups for 2022. Please check our Events page to make sure the details are the same if you’re adding them to your calendar in advance.

RSVP not required, but helps us get an idea of how many people to expect. Thank you for keeping waterways clean!
