It’s never been more important to support teens in local action.
Young people face isolation due to COVID, a changing climate, and political leaders who are slow to act. Each week, teens in YEP! can connect during this difficult year, hone their leadership skills, and learn to use one of their most valuable assets: their own voices.
It’s no surprise, then, that we saw a record number of high school students apply to our YEP! (Youth for the Environment and People) program. We just couldn’t say “no” to all the passionate students who wanted to make a difference in a time when many feel stuck—so we are now offering TWO cohorts to accommodate the 30 students enrolled.
Join us on November 16th at 5:30 p.m. to hear stories and experiences from the local teens who are taking action on the issues they care about, building community and protecting the future they will live in. You’ll also have an opportunity to support this expanded program: our goal is to raise $10,000 in order to cover additional expenses and the $200 stipend we give to each student to extend our reach into underrepresented communities, and make sure no one is left out for financial reasons.
Get ready to be inspired, and please join us in lifting up youth voices through YEP! Together we can offer high schoolers a chance to learn beyond the online classroom, inspire hope, elevate their voices, support self-esteem and provide meaningful activities that enrich our communities.
