Climate Activist Meeting (December)
December 9, 2021 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
For our last meeting of the year, we’ve got some exciting news and 3 key actions to support together!
- The City of Bellingham is finally set to propose that all new commercial and large multifamily (i.e. apartment complexes) be all-electric, an important step in curbing our use of methane gas for heat. There will be a public hearing on December 13th, which is our first chance to tell the City we support this first step towards reducing its largest source of climate pollution.
- In gearing up for the 2022 state legislative session, we’ll hear Jamie Ptacek of Futurewise invite us to work on the Washington Can’t Wait campaign, a set of legislative priorities on climate change, environmental justice and housing equity.
- Prepare to advocate for groundbreaking statewide building code that would make Washington’s new building rules the most clean-energy friendly in the nation, requiring all new commercial and multifamily buildings built without methane gas.
Have a restful holiday season and we’ll see you again in January!
