Tour a Bellingham waterfront cleanup site: Weldcraft Steel & Marine
July 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join us for a tour of the Weldcraft Steel & Marine cleanup site on Bellingham’s waterfront! It’s a great way to connect with parts of our waterfront that have been inaccessible to the public, learn about them, and give feedback on plans to clean up and restore them.
Thursday July 17th from 12:00-1:30pm
2652 N Harbor Loop Drive, Bellingham (map)
Meet in the parking lot behind LFS Marine. Look for the blue tent.
Department of Ecology and Port of Bellingham staff will be there to provide project information and answer questions. Various activities took place between 1946 and 2000, including boat construction, repair, and maintenance, leaving pollutants in the soil, groundwater, and sediments — such as petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, and volatile organic compounds. Now, a cleanup plan is under development to restore the site. Check out this fact sheet on the site for more details.
Please contact info@re-sources.org if you need any further information.
Learn more about this cleanup site on Ecology’s webpage and prepare for the public comment period on the site’s draft Cleanup Action Plan, June 30th to July 30th!
