SUMMARY:Doctober Screening: Humboldt\, USA
DESCRIPTION:Join us for two screenings of Humboldt\, USA during Pickford Film Center’s Doctober: October 18th\, 10:15 a.m. and October 21st\, 5:20 p.m. \nAbout the film: \nIn three namesakes of 19th century gay scientist Alexander von Humboldt – Humboldt County\, Nevada\, Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo NY\, and Humboldt Redwoods\, California – the struggle for environmental protection interweaves with technological alienation and climate collapse\, in this experimental journey of American nature. \nThe three braided stories reflect Humboldt’s photo-ecologist motto “everything is interconnectedness” – asking: how do the tools of the modern world change our relationship to nature? \nAddressed as a fraught love letter to Alexander von Humboldt – the world’s most used namesake – Humboldt USA paints a portrait of Americans trying to understand and respond to their rapidly changing environments. \nBuy Tickets
