Whatcom County Agricultural Plastics Recycling

Whatcom County has programs for recycling all types of agricultural plastics, many of which are processed by Agri-Plas Inc. in Oregon or Silverdale Recycling Ltd. in British Columbia.  PVC Pipe is processed by local company Specified Fittings for re-manufacture into plumbing fixtures.  Some materials are sent overseas.

Last year, Whatcom County recycled more than 43 tons of agricultural plastic.

Success Stories

Pesticide Container Collection Events

RE Sources worked with Northwest Ag Plastics to promote Skagit and Whatcom County pesticide container collections in 2006.

Half-day collections were held in Conway, Everson and Mount Vernon and recycled a record 8.6 tons of rinsed containers.
RE Sources helped promote the collection to pesticide applicators and golf course superintendents in the two counties and through the media. Northwest Ag Plastics provided flyers and other educational materials, which were distributed by agricultural partners Elenbaas Inc., Skagit Farm Supply and Wilbur-Ellis.
