Thanks to wonderful community support, we have purchased a new building, remodeled the retail spaces, moved the RE Store, turned the second floor into offices and moved our education and advocacy offices.

Our new home, located on the corner of Broadway and Meridian in Bellingham and dubbed the Sustainable Living Center, is well on its way to being an innovative resource hub where community members can learn about a variety of green building and sustainability issues and gain the tools they need to take action.

How You Can Help

HELP US FINISH OUR REMODEL! Our first priority is to get the building warm and dry, which includes fixing the leaky roof, installing a heating system and completing the remodel of the educational spaces. While these needs are immediate, we are being careful to consider our future “greening” efforts so that the work we do now can be built upon in the future.

Get involved! In addition to monetary gifts, we are looking for volunteers to help us remodel our new building. Skills such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical, or just a willingness to help are much appreciated and needed immediately. Contact RE Sources for more information.

We appreciate donations of all sizes, especially at this critical time!

The Sustainable Living Center is an innovative community hub where people can come to learn about green building and other sustainability issues. Our new facility, located at 2309 Meridian Street in Bellingham will soon feature:

  • The RE Store, with its large inventory of affordable, recycled and vintage building materials.
  • Classrooms for volunteer training sessions and community workshops where people can learn how to testify at public hearings, monitor water pollution or become Beach Naturalists..
  • A library with the latest information and news in conservation and green building.
  • A shop space for teaching people how to re-use construction materials, plumb a sink, install a window, or build a rain barrel..
  • Educational exhibits and interactive displays that link human actions and the environment—imagine calculating your global warming footprint or learning about how to reduce energy consumption in your home.
  • RE Sources' education and advocacy offices.

“The environmental group RE Sources and its offshoot The RE Store have been great successes for downtown Bellingham… Its programs in the community and through schools throughout the county have greatly enriched the quality of environmental education here. We wish the organization well in raising money, finding a home and building its visionary new center.”
