Thank you for urging senators to ensure funding for toxic pollution prevention and cleanup!
Here's what to do:

1. Go to the Legislature's SB 5993 comment page here and fill out your information, and select only your senator to receive your comment, NOT your two representatives.
2. Mark that you SUPPORT the bill
3. Paste the language below into the Comment section, and submit! (And adapt it, if willing and able)

Toxic pollution impacts communities across Washington. With nearly 6,000 toxic sites statewide, a major problem with stormwater pollution, and a growing need to protect the public from chemicals in products, state funding must be adjusted to meet the demand.

I urge you to support SB 5993, Reforming the Financial Structure of the Model Toxics Control Program. This bill would change the fee on petroleum products to a rate per barrel that will be more stable and predictable than the ups and downs of oil prices. It also sets the tax rate to a reasonable level that meets demand.

MTCA’s funding source has not been changed since the law was passed in 1988. Yet, demand for preventing and controlling pollution, cleaning up toxic sites, and ensuring communities have a voice in reducing threats from toxic pollution has exploded.

Now is the time to act. Please pass SB 5993!

Thank you.
